Menopause symptoms that significantly lower quality of life are reported by at least 25% of Australian women between the ages of 45 and 64.
There is currently limited understanding regarding the impacts of peri/menopause for Australian women and people assigned female at birth.
Led by A/Prof Subhadra Evans, the Australian Women’s Experience (AWE) of Menopause Survey is a national study exploring wellbeing and healthcare experiences during the menopausal transition.
The online survey asked participants about menopause symptoms, physical and mental health, experiences of seeking healthcare, and preferences for support and treatment. Findings from this study are expected to inform the development of supportive care programs to promote wellbeing during the menopausal transition.
Almost 3,000 participants completed the survey between June and August 2025.
Analyses and paper preparation are well underway.
